I am looking for my Great-great grand father Pierre (Peter) Justin Maisondieu - Laforge, born 1813 Pressignac (Cognac region) France. Wine maker, Died July 12 1856 in Vera Cruz, Mexico. (to be confirmed).
emigrated in the US and/or Mexico around 1842-1855 from France / Algeria.(might have been engaged in the army).
Any info would be appreciated as to how get confirmation of his death date and situation at the time.(possibly in the army? or married.?..).
Also would like info of Vera Cruz situation at the time (War, immigrations status etc).
this info wad given by my father from memory of official document. could have been Santa cruz- Mexico.
Was Santa cruz in Mexico at the time?
Complete last name is Maisondieu- laforge from the marriage of his grand father Maisondieu to spouse Laforge ( high ranked Noble familly in France).
The name Laforge could only be retained in the US as more practical. Pierre could also became Peter, or Pedro.
I do not speak spanish and do not know how to get death records ( or others) in mexico.
I do have records of Pierre - Justin's ancestors in France for 3 generations and 6 descendant generations in French Algeria from his only known son: my great-grand father Leon, Mayor of Mouzaiaville (French Algeria) born in Algeria in 1842,(prior Pierre-Justin disaprearence in the United States and /or Mexico).
