Alex, I the lead I gave you was really the only one I could find based on the information I saw in your earlier posts. I do hope it works out for you. Since I had no idea how old your great grandfather was in 1899, I really couldn't give you an idead of just how good this lead might be. The 1800's and even the early 1900's were years of much civil and national unrest. Burgos had it's share of revolutionaries and rebels. Men back then were all armed. I'm not saying they all carried guns on a daily basis, but I do believe that anyone who could afford to owned a gun or two. My own grandfather was the victim of a stray bullet. He lost his leg as a young adult. There are various versions of how this actually came about, and who really knows the truth. The point is that this happened in the 1930's in Burgos, so you can imagine how much more dangerous it might have been 40 or 50 years earlier. Life was different then just as our children and grandchildren will experience a very different life than we now live. They will not be able to imagine what life was like. They will base their perception on movies made during our life. Depending on the movies they see, they may have a very different view of what our daily lives are like. Enough said....buene suerte. BTW, I spoke to my dad last night and as far as he knows the prison still exists in San Carlos. your friend...........Mercedes Notify Administrator about this message?
