A Church In Fronteras ?
Civil Register of the municipality of Aconchi contains entries referring the family of Bernabe Ramos and Josefa Guijada as "originally of Fronteras." Fronteras was a presidio during the early settlement by the Spanish of the northern frontier. It appears to continue it's existence as a small village a short distance directly south of Douglas, Arizona.I am not able to locate any records on Fronteras in the LDS Library Catalogue.I would appreciate contact from any person who may be able to direct me to the church where children of this village were baptized in the early 1800s.
Ursulo Ramos, a resident of Aconchi was discovered murdered in his house on August 14, 1904. His wife, Maria Jesus Altamirano maintained residence at their ranch in Cucurpe. At time of death Ursulo was said to be 73 years of age. Two of Ursulo's brothers, Donaciano, age 70 and Pablo, age 49 were also residents of Aconchi at this time and they were described as being "orijenarios de Fronteras." The events following the death of Ursulo became the bases for the "Corrido de Aconchi" recorded by the Hurricanes Del Norte. I would like to learn where I may locate a copy of this [email protected]
