Villa Unión is located 16 miles SE of Mazatlán in the state of Sinaloa. Formerly It was a prison to check indian invasions. Name was changed to Villa Unión september 11 1828. In modern times Mazatlan Custom was located there.
In March 19, 20 and 21, 1866, French invasion forces were defeated here and retired to Mazatlán.
