My wife is descended from Jose Maria Amaya. We have been attempted to trace the lineage, but cannot determine who Jose Maria's parents were.
He was born about 1807 in Colima. He enlisted in the army fairly young and in 1826 he married Maria Antonia Larios at Mission San Juan Bautista, California. I believe that Maria Antonia may also have come from Colima, or perhaps her parents did.
If anyone can provide helpful information, I would be grateful.
