Rene Meunier and Elizabeth A. Bolin had several children born in Hardin County, KY and these chidlren appear in St. Patrick's records: Napolean Alexander Meunier b. 1842; Josephine Meunier B. 1843; William Henry Clay b. 1844; Rebecca Virginia Meunier b. 1846; Louis Thomas Meunier b. 1847 and Edward Meunier, b. 1850. The name was spelled Mounier in these records. St. Patrick's Church was located in the middle of present day Fort Knox, KY.

In the 1850 Hardin County, KY Census, Rene was listed as a toll gate keeper (probably on the L & N toll road) In those same records is a child of Robert Oliver and his wife, Maria, who was also a Bowlin [sic] (who possibly was a sister to Rene's wife, as Rene and Elizabeth Meunier were sponsors in Jared Alexander Oliver's baptism) named Jared Alexander Oliver, b. about 1835, bapt. 1848.

In the 1850 Hardin County Census, Rene Meunier, aged 50, is said to be born in France. His name is spelled Munier in these census records. The children are said to be born in Kentucky as well as his wife, Elizabeth, aged 35.. Three older children are also in the census- Frances E. Meunier, aged 17; James, aged 15; Barbary A., aged 10. ElizabethFrances Meunier d/o Rene Meunier and Barbara _______ b. 1833, was also listed in the St. Patrick's records, but not James nor Barbary Ann.

Louis Thomas Meunier also appears later in St. Patrick's records with wife, Anna M. Johnson with two little children born in 1888 and 1891 as well as James Meunier's wife, Mary and her four children, who were baptized in 1872, the same day that a Mrs. Mary Oliver and her three daughters were baptized. I believe this Mrs. Mary Oliver may have been a daughter-in-law of the older Robert Oliver whose child, Jared Alexander Oliver was baptized in 1848, but born in 1835.

In 1841, we know that two Oliver boys, Charles and Thomas Oliver, executors of Robert Oliver's estate in Baltimore, MD were in Paris, France and had appointed a power of attorney to care for their father's estate in their absence. This is important in the land records in Meade County, KY because Robert Oliver had sold land to over fifty people in the late 1830's and the land came into dispute. the land stretched from the Ohio river tributary, Otter Creek as far as presnet day Flaherty, 50, 000 acres, originally a piece patented to Philip Barbour.

Would very much like to contact descendants and share information. We are trying to find the link beteen the Olivers and the Shircliff family of Meade County, KY.

Sincerely, Ann T. Sipes
