My great grandfather, Philip Thomas Metler married Alice Farnsworth, the daughter of a corporation attorney in St. Louis, MO. My great grandfather for a while ran a general store at Canton, MO, but this store was burned down by the guerillas at the end of the Civil War. From there, he moved to Pine City, Minnesota; from Pine City to Grand Forks, North Dakota; and from there to Rolla, North Dakota. From there to Anacortes, Washington and finally to Kalispell, Montana, where he died.

We have no record of his serving in the Civil War. The name is certainly the same or similar and the timing of his living in Missouri is the same. Do you have any additional information? I have plenty of info on Phlip and his ancestors/descendants.
