Hi Cheryl: I am Burke Lokey, a great grandson of James A. P. Methvin. I have just seen your posting of Aug 5, 2001 and am interested in your message. As there is a considerable amount of information available on the descendants of Thomas Methvin (2/14/1777 to 2/20/1843 - Wilkinson County GA), who was the father of James A. P. Methvin (1/2/1806 to 11/21/1875 - Quitman County, GA), I would offer the following information: a) William Trulock (note spelling)(11/1/1831 to 1/19/1902), the second child of 13 born to James and Margaret Burke Methvin, married 1st Mary Jane Sears on 1/4/1852, then married Mollie Castellow (note spelling--they were a well known family in Southwest Ga) after 1872 and then married Nanny Ogletree after Mollie died. b) We do not, to my knowledge, have any information connecting The Thomas Methvin descendants to the Methvins who made their home in LA. I have the impression that a connection exists but that the connection occured before the age of our Thomas Methvin. I would be very interested if you have information of such a connection. I would be interested knowing your connection to the Methvins (La. or Central and SW GA. I am also interested in seeing information on the LA Methvins and am willing to share. Again I am a Great grandson Of James A. P. Methvin and I grew up on his home place that he carved out of the wilderness many years ago. He and his family and descendants are buried in the Methvin Family cemetery close to the site where his original home stood before it burned when I was about 1 year old. My grandfather, Benjamin F. Lokey (9/30,1837 to 10/16/1921) married Cliffford E. Methvin (3/18/1851 to 7/25/1933), his 2nd wife on Dec. 23, 1892. Their son, Clifton Methvin Lokey was my father. Sincerely, Burke Lokey Notify Administrator about this message?
