My Methe family came to the US 1848, and were in Germany as early as 1750, they may have been French Huguenots...they all carry German first names, just the last name was not very German sounding, unsure how many generations they were there when they left. I know Reiner who posted and another with the Methe name...all go cack to the same little German town or close to it....so I believe maybe its where the name originated in Germany (before that...unknown) Very interesting though.
