Messingers in Massachusetts 1770-1810
I am trying to locate the Massachusetts family into which my ancestor Jedediah Fredrick Messenger was born on 27 April 1786. I believe Amasa Messenger born between 1788-1792 in Massachusetts to be a sibling, as well as possibly Sarah Messenger born 1795 in Massachusetts.
An outline of what I have so far with speculation in [brackets].
Family of Jedediah Messenger – he went by Fredrick in 1850 census only
Jedediah Messenger – born 27 April 1786 in Massachusetts, married about 1828 in Michigan to Eliza Boughton, and died April 1864 Barry County, Michigan, his spouse Eliza Boughton – born 22 June 1799 in New York
Their children – all born in Michigan
Jane – 1830
Ivah (male) – 1831
Ogilvie (male) – 1833
Phebe – 1836
Adaline – 22 February 1840
Violetta – 1842
First known appearance in Michigan was 1817: Nathaniel Squires[Squire/Squier] (born 1752 in CT), Amasa Messenger (born 1788 to 1792 in Mass.), and Jedediah Messenger all built houses on section 28 Shelby Township, Macomb County, Michigan in 1817. Nathaniel Squires married second wife Sarah Messenger born 1795(in Mass.) sometime after 1811. A child of theirs was born in Shelby Township, Michigan in 1817, the first non-native American child born there. Nathaniel was born 1752 in Connecticut but came out of Canada to Michigan [an English Loyalist perhaps]. Amasa Messenger married a daughter of Nathaniel Squires and his first wife; she was Sarah Squires born about 1798. [I am confident Amasa and Jedediah are brothers and suspect that Sarah Messenger may have been a sister, if this is true Amasa'a wife was his sister's step-daughter]
Children of Amasa Messenger and Sarah Squires [Squire/Squier] married 11 March 1827 in Michigan, all born in Michigan:
Jedediah (male) – 1828
Aaron (male) - 1830
Nathaniel (male) – 1832
Hannah – 1835
Pamelia - 1838
