Dear Nancy-
To quote from my copy of "The Messinger Family in Europe and America" by Geo. Washington Messinger, 1882, reprinted in the N.E.H.G. Register for October 1862:

"Col Messinger was born at Wrentham, Norfolk County, in this state [Massachusetts], June 17, 1768, and was the third of twelve Children, of Daniel [1735-1812] and Mary [Brastow] Messinger [1742-1836]. His father, a farmer, was the son of Rev. Henry Messinger, the second minister of the Congregational Church of Wrentham, and his Mother, Mary Brastow, was a descendant of the Rev. Samuel Mann, the first minister of that parish..." all areas within [] are added to the quote.

Daniel Messinger was also a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts; joining in 1792, and becoming its Commander in 1804 and 1810.

I am related to Sweetser Messinger, brother to Daniel (the father). the line continues back to Henry Messinger of Boston (1618-1681)

Hope this helps you; let me know if I can help any further.

Leon Messenger,
Lincoln, NE
