I have just recently started my wife's genealogy. Her grandmother, still living in Troy, AL, is Evie Lee (Messick) Jordan. Mawmaw, as we call her, was born in Sept 1907 and has a very sharp mind. We have been on vacation this week and paid her a visit. I do belive many of you Pike Cty Messicks are related. Evie married Virgil Jordan. She was a daughter of Eli Messick and Mary Frances Stephens. Eli was a son of William Washington Messick and Amandia McLendon. Eli was a son of George C. Messick. I have the names of George's two wifes as Martha Miller, born July 1833 in Dale Cty, AL. His second marriage is listed to a Martha A Jackson on Jan 04, 1880 in Pike County.
I also have connections to the Messick family from Crenshaw County, AL through the Nichols family. I have no idea if these two Messick families are connected but imagine they are.
Any of you who are related to any of these Messick families, PLEASE email me direct at [email protected]
I can probably complete at least the one line of Messicks from Evie Messick and her husband Virgil to the current date and am eager to share and learn.
Sincerely
Donnie Shackelford
