Audrey,
I have read the Messick Ancestral File, and a cousin of mine Dorothy Messick placed a copy in the Baxter County Library.A few years ago, my wife and I decided to try to trace the Messick line back to Delaware where John W's father/grandfather? Richard Messick was born in 1767.We found information in TN, NC & Delaware of course, where we found about 3 full phonebook pages of Messicks. On our way back, we tried to find information on Richard and his daughter, John W's mother. The census records for that time frame was missing. As for Ruby Catherine as with other information on the Messick family, I found the Ancestral File to be pretty accurate with the exception of the more recent information concerning my direct descendents. I found that information to be incorrect and incomplete. I also went to the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. I found a lot of interesting information, but nothing that differed with the File. I believe that we are all kinfolks, descended from Julian Messick who came over from France in 1664.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
