It it possible that this is my David Griffin and Lucy Mercer? My grandfather is David Mercer Griffin from Virgina. His mother was Mattie Owens and father was as David Mercer Griffin too. David Griffin's mother was to be Lucy Katherine Mercer b 1858 in NC, however she does not fit into any Mercer line. Husband would have been William Griffin, father David VanBuran Griffin. It seems as though every item I find with David Mercer SR on it has a scratch out, re-write, or simply a different name or birth date all together. I started checking Messer and found your info. I have 2 different birth certs for a Lucy Mercer, each has names on it that go to different families. I did find a Katherine Mercer, Katherine is the middle name, listed in NY as an inmate. William Griffin lived in New York for some time.
