I might have some information about the Messenger Familes in Massachusetts. When I was younger I had a class project to do a family tree and my Grandma Audrey Messenger has family history back to the middle 1500's when her family first came from England. I believe she said that they lived all over the east coast, not 100% if Massachusetts is in there or not, but I remember a story about a Messenger that rode a horse from Virginia to the Boston area to deliver a very important letter.
I will have to find the stuff or talk to her, but I will keep you in mind.
