Hello, We would like some help looking for Rufus Messenger parents. My Cousin and I both beleive that it is Nathaniel Messenger who was married three times. Rufus was married in Granby, CT to Rosannah Goddard of Nathan Goddard who was also the grandaughter of George Hayes who is the President Hayes line. If they are related why can't well find some information on Rufus Messenger. He would have been very involved in the Community being he was from Andrew Messenger lines. Rufus move to the area of Monroe Co., NY around 1800's with his wife and first child. He was listed as the Path Master and Wealthfare Officer of Brighton, NY where is there not more information on his or his family. The most of the Children traveled on all but one, who stayed in the area of Brighton, NY. He died in early 1835. His son Rufus Milo Messenger died the falling year in Peoria, IL. Found died in bed, know the history of the family it may have been his heart.
Rufus Messenger only had two sons and six daughters. We don't know what happen with Rosannah Goddard Messenger after his death. We are at a brickwall. So Messenger cousins I am asking for the help of all of you, if you would be so kind if you come across anything that may give us a lead on Rufus Sr. We would be thankful.
One thing I do know is the Name Rufus have been past through the line of Nathaniel and also the name Milo. This is important to the family at the time. the Milo name has been past down 5 generations in this family and I know that there was a Milo Messenger in VT who was the son of Samuel Messenger. Hope all of you can help in someway.
