Correction to posting #1
Posted by: Lois Caprile Date: February 17, 2000 at 17:11:21

Thanks to the generosity of Fred Meserve who has a fantastic website on the Meserve family and to Nancy Averill who so generously shared her work on the Chesley family I have discovered that my posted lineage on the Meserves has a gigantic error! Much to my chagrin, I am evidently not even related to the Meserve family! (And you are all so nice too!)
The posting #1 is correct, I believe [except for the puzzle of whether Daniel 3 (Daniel 2, Clement 1) or his brother Clement 3 married Abigail HAM] until we get to #7. An Abigail MESERVE did indeed marry an Andrew CHESLEY, but it was not the Andrew 5 I had listed, therefore the children listed are NOT correct. The correct Andrew CHESLEY is Andrew 7 (Nathaniel 6, Andrew 5, Joshua 4, Philip 3,2,1) who m 1 Jan 1824 in Adams (now Jackson) Carroll County NH Abigail Meserve. The children are so far as I know, are: i Abner 8, b Jackson NH d 2 Oct 1907 Jackson; ii Alonzo 8, b Jackson 7 Jun 1823 d 29 Jun 1904 Bartlett, NH; iii Lucinda 8, b Jackson; iv Sally 8, b 1830; v Harriet 8 b 1832. As you can see some of the birthdates of the children do not agree with the marriage date - so please be aware this is NOT PROVEN. It might however give you a place to start.
Sorry if I have caused any of you problems.
Lois in Yakima, WA
