Wayne:

I thought I'd add a little to your posting. James Merson had (m) Lucy Howard on 10/11/1796 in Onslow, NS. He (d) 7/13/1841, age 78, and is buried in Coldstream, NS at a small cemetery where now only five or six gravestones are banked against a fence, so knowing who all were buried there and whom next to in that old cemetery is anyone's guess. Fortunately, his gravestone was one of those few still existing.

Lucy Howard was (b) 5/16/1776 in Onslow, NS. Her parents were Ephraim Howard 1740-1815 and Sarah Blair (b)1744, (m) 12/8/1763 in Onslow, NS. Both were (b)in Massachusetts -Ephraim in Warren, and Sarah in Leicester. Ephraim's parents were Ephraim Hayward Sr. (b) 1697 and Joanna Wheeler (b) 1708 - both in Concord, MA. This Ephraim's parents were George Hayward and Hannah Chadwick. George was (b) 1673 in Concord, MA, and Hannah (b) 1673 in England.

Nothing is set in concrete of course except that Lucy Howard seems pretty definite as married to James Merson. Her lineage is detailed enough to be very likely accurate.
