Hi all! I found a little more information that might be helpful. George Merryman, the father of Arthur Henry Merryman, came to the US from England around 1900. Apparently he was from a wealthy family, but he was the black sheep. He married Kathleen Cashel, with whom he had four children. Kathleen died during childbirth with the fourth child (I'm estimating this to be around 1920, give or take a few years), which was my father's father, Arthur Henry. When Arthur was about 4, George contracted TB and was put into a facility, thus orphaning the four children. They got split up and went their own ways, and when my dad was only 4 years old (this would be 1960), Arthur passed away, severing my dad's only real tie to the rest of the Merrymans. The last my dad has heard, some of the siblings/family were supposedly living in Detroit.
