MERRYMAN's from Orkney, Scotland early records

I just thought I would pass this on in case some might not know this, but while I was searching for my own family name in the Orkney's, I noticed several MERRYMAN / MERRIMAN's there as well in the old records.
Ironically, my own family has married into the Merryman's (both spellings) in Cumberland Co., Maine.
Knowing how these Scottish families clanned together I was not surprised to see this. However I have not researched my Merryman connections very well so don't know if mine came from Scotland or not. OR, they might be from Scottish roots but moved to England as so many of the Scots did in the early days from all the turmoil etc. This gives many people the False idea that because their families are found in England that they are of English descent.
Many times this is often not the case as with my own family. yDNA has also proven that my family does not connect to any of the English lines of my surname so far.

Does anyone here know of any of the Orkney MERRYMAN's who may have been Ulster-Scots that came to Maine by way of Northern Ireland in the 1700's?
Thank you
