I wish I did. I know that they were both discharged on the same date and that they used many of the same names for their children, but I have no proof that they were related. I have a document from NS, that is a Merritt family history. Another researcher acquired it and gave me a copy but I have no idea who wrote this history, as I only have some pages. It says at the top MERRITT. Then it says
"This section will deal with other families of Merritts who settled in the Annapolis and Digby County areas of Nova Scotia. I have not been able to connect the families to the Granville Merritts. There were two additional Merritt families in the area, one at Clementsport, Annapolis County and the other in Sandy Cove, Digby County. There were also many Merritts inSaint John N.B. however they will not be presented in this document".
The information indicates that the John Merritt who was discharged from the KAR, settling at Annapolis, was believed to be the same John Merritt who settled in Sandy Cove, Digby County.
I do know that Gilbert Merritt who left NS for Ontario was born in Annapolis but his children were born in Digby. I believe him to be a son of John Merritt KAR.
If you can shed any light on a relationship with the Merritts in Granville I would appreciate it. Debbie Burr
