I recently made a major breakthrough with my Merriman line, ending my 22 year old brick wall, and let me tell you it is a GREAT feeling! Right now I am looking for some solid information on my lines. I am finding alot of conflicting information out there. Here is how I descend: Nathaniel & Joan (Line?) Merriman Caleb (b May 1665) & Mary (Preston) Merriman Capt. Eliasaph & Abigail (Hull)Merriman Eliasph & Jerusha (Mattoon) Merriman Eliakim & Hannah (Russell) Merriman (they were married 16 Jun 1806 <the day of the "Great Solar Eclipse" and lived in Portage County, Ohio... there were a couple of other Merriman's there, who I believe may have been brothers of Eliakim, but are not listed with the family. Harlow & Nancy (maiden name unknown) who were in LaGrange County, Indiana by 1850, with who I believe to be one of Harlow's relatives, Job Doolittle. Harlow & Nancy had twin sons, born 13 Sept 1844, either Portage County, Ohio, or Indiana. Their names were Burse & Brice. I find that Burse went onto Michigan with his parents before 1860, and his brother was in Portage County, Ohio in 1870, living next door to Russell Merriman, who I believe was the oldest child of Eliakim & Hannah, and the brother of Harlow. Burse & Betsey (Branch) Merriman md 1864 Van Buren County, Michigan. Russell & Ella (Thompson) Merriaman were married 25 May 1888, Van Buren County, Michigan (Russell was 1st married to Myra Funk, who died the day after giving birth in 1887) Clarence & Georgia (Merriman) Roe married in Oct 1914 Van Buren County, Michigan. Georgia (called Georgie) was my Great Grandmother. Any help on the the Merriman lines would be greatfully accepted.
