A biography & portrait of Franklin T. Merrill, Havre, MT, are included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, pages 706 & 707.

Franklin T. born, 18 Feb 1887, the son of Franklin A. and Hattie (Teece) Merrill. The father, Franklin A., was born in New York City, were he was raised and educated. Later he studied law and practiced law in Minneapolis, MN. Eventually, he moved to Great Falls, MT, where he resided until his death. Hattie then moved to Havre. Children of Franklin A. and Hattie Merrill: Franklin T. (Havre, MT), George E., Olive (died in infancy), Arthur J., Robert T.

Franklin T. was educated in the public schools of Great Falls, MT. At age 14, he was employed as a newsboy on the streets of Great Falls. Then he was employed at Strain Brothers department store until age 19. He then began working for the First National Bank, being promoted from time to time until in 1917 he was paying teller. He then located to Havre, MT, where he had been elected cashier and teller of the Montana National Bank.

F.T. Merrill, vice president of the Midlands National Bank of Billings, and Mrs. Merrill have returned from Havre where they were called by the illness and death of Mr. Merrill's mother, Mrs. Hattie Merrill, who came to Montana in 1889 and for the last 20 years had made her home at Havre.

Franklin T. Merrill died 14 Aug 1961, age 74, Yellowstone Co., MT
