I am descended from Mary J. Merrill, who married George P. Swope 22 June 1837 in Boone County, KY.
She was born 15 May 1818, presumably in KY. She died 28 Sept 1889 in Hancock County, IL.
Her middle name might be Juliett. One of their daughters is named Mary Juliett Swope.
According to the marriage record, her father was John W. Swope.
I was hoping you might have information on this Merrill family.
I thought there might be a connection to the John McIver Merrill family because of the names Mary J. Merrill and George P. Swope gave their children:
Benjamin Sinclair Swope b. 1839 (John McIver Merrill had sons named Benjamin and Sinclair)
Mildred E. Swope b. 1841 (John McIver Merrill's wife's name was Mildred)
Jacob Swope b. 1842
