Andrea,

Apologies, but a bit of a long shot. I'm looking for Merrifields from Tavistock and given that's not a million miles from your family, wonder if you have a connection. The key names are Richard Sargent Merrifield (b. 1838) and his son William John Geach Merrifield, born 1870.

Coincidentally, the family also ended up in Twickenham, but I have no record of a Nathaniel.
