Wish so much that I could find your Milton in Ky but simply can't do so. No record whatsoever of him. IF you have a clue as to where he was--please let me know. You have, of course, proven your data with actual records??? Also--Have never seen A. as a middle initial for John-- have seen his name as Merrifield/Merryfield/Merifield in the censuses of Nelson Co. This is the same John who is listed as John Merrifield JNR & wife Sarah/Sally in an 1819 land record in Hardin Co. John sold land to Alexander Merrifield with witnesses of Samuel & Fielding Merrifield (sons of Alex'r); Lemuel Smith (son-in-law) and James Redman (don't know his connect but was Sheriff of Hodgen- ville). Have all Merrifield land records from Hardin & LaRue-- Census records & tax lists of Hardin Co; Censuses of Nelson Co (also early tax lists); some land records in Nelson. ALL Merrifield land records from LaRue; some tax records of LaRue; all mgs & censuses of LaRue. Working on wills/probates in Hardin & LaRue. Only record of Milton Merrifield is in LaRue Co--he is buried in the Lemuel Smith Family Cem. Stone is very hard to read when read by Ed Benningfield for his book of LaRue Cems (complete Cem listings are on line- LaRue Co). Check for yourself. My Grandparents left Athertonville, LaRue Co, Ky in 1923 & came to Farmer City, DeWitt Co, IL (where there were Merrifield descendants of James Merrifield). Don't know why they chose that place. Grandma's sister Nelly Merrifield Nalley & family lived at LeRoy (again do not know why they chose that place). My parents lived at Farmer City & moved to LeRoy just before I was born & lived at LeRoy until 1996. My Dad died in 1996. My parents moved to Bloomington so my Dad could be closer to the hospital for his Chemo. treatments. My Mom will soon be 90. Many of my Merrifield family descendants are all buried at Oak Grove Cem at LeRoy. I know what I say is true-- I have the records to prove it. Many bits & pieces that I am trying to put together & it is hard to do so. I keep finding people that early researchers don't mention and haven't been able to connect them in yet. Can't get the records of the period I need on line & can't get to Ky to do the research myself!!! Notify Administrator about this message?
