Sharon, I do not know if this is of interest to you, but I thought I would let some of the Meriwhethers know. There is a house in what is now Amherst Co., that was orginally in New Kent I believe, I know that the house has been in 3 counties as Va. developed, and it is slated for demolition by a private owner.
The house is definately restorable. It was probably built by Capt. David, or his son David, Elizabeth's brother, in 1735, on some of the original land grant to the first David to this country. There is a movement by the Crawford descendants, and interested people, to save this house. If you could help, with a signature to a petition, please contact me by direct e-mail and I will give you more information. Thanks so much, Mary Crawford
