Looking for any derivation of spelling of Meriwether. My great grandfather immigrated from Germany ca. 1850s as a child. Lived in Louisville, KY. Name is Americanized as Meriwether, which is generally an English spelling, not German. Not sure what the German spelling was. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks.
