I have some info on Merchant's from Mount Desert island. Unfortunatly I have my research in storage at the moment. (in the process of moving) I had recieved some of my info from the Historical Society on Vinalhaven, Maine. My third great grandfather, John S. Merchant, was from Isle aut Haut, an Island off from Vinalhaven. He had relatives from Mount Desert Island, and surrounding Islands. I cannot remember the mans name to contact from the Historical Society On Vinalhaven, but they do have a web site, which I believe has a link to him. I am sorry I cannot be much more help (my luck, I probably have the info you need, but I cannot get to it at this time.) I hope this helps,
