William Merchant, Boston Massacre, 1770

Has anyone researched the lineage of William Merchant, a "youth, who was one of the four" who were first involved in what became the Boston Massacre on March 5, 1770. The Boston Gazette and Country Journal, dated March 12, 1770, listed William Merchant, Edward Archbald, plus two other youths, as being the first to be attacked by a British soldier. Merchant was stabbed at by the soldier, using a broadsword, which only punctured Merchant's clothing. Merchant hit back with a "stick he had at the time." Nothing else is listed about this person. He was not killed (but Crispus Attacks was) nor listed as wounded in the official records of the fray. Anyone know anything about this Merchant?

My wife says William is probably one of my ancestors since I'm always causing trouble for her; and she is sure that it runs in the family! Help!
