Jesse and 1st wife Emma (LONG) MERCHANT had one daughter, Lena. Emma d. 22 Sept 1893, her obit states that "that she leaves one child, 2 years old, a husband and a host of friends to mourn her death." {Note: the child must be Lena, b. in 1891.}
Roy is the son of Jesse and 2nd wife Sarah Jane SHEPARD, b. 7 May 1900, d. 28 Oct 1929. Roy md. 8 Sept 1923, to Audra Alice THARP, daughter of Oliver & Clistia (JACKSON) THARP, (have NO other info on her). They had 2 sons:
1.) Russel W.MERCHANT b. abt. 1924, d. Mar 1929.
2.) Cecil H. MERCHANT, b. abt 1926, d. 24 Dec 1989.
