From a family bible handed down from Rev. Edgar Mercer (son of Henry Mercer, b. 1842 Bay Roberts and buried in Shearstown and Jane Earle, b. 1840, buried in Shearstown) there is an addition referring to his mother’s family. Jane’s family or siblings were William Earle, Sophia (Sophie), Lavinia (might have married Jordan Mercer), Mary Jane, Susan, Emily, Emma (might have married Isaac Sparkes), and Jane (as mentioned above). Jane is mention as 7th daughter.
Lavinia Earle whom married Jordan Mercer was born about 1845 in Spaniard's Bay Pond [Shearstown], Newfoundland. On her headstone in Shearstown under the surname MERCER: Lavinia (Dawe), Age 90, 1845 – 1935. My source may be incorrect which refers her as an Earle though in fact might be a Dawe.
Emma whom married Isaac Sparkes would have been born about 1842. Isaac was born in Spaniard's Bay Pond [Shearstown], Newfoundland.
