I can't get you past Lorenzo, but I may be able to fill in some gaps.
Lorenzo and Susana Mercer are listed in the 1880 census of Bridgeton, Newaygo Co, MI as follows:
Lorenzo Mercer, 29, born Indiana
Susana, 28, born Indiana
Leander, 9 or 7, born Michigan
Bertie, 5, born Michigan
Cora B, 1, born Michigan
The census taker listed Lorenzo's name backward, so the rest of the family was listed with Lorenzo as the last name rather than Mercer.
In 1900 Susanna is widowed. The family is in Garfield, Newaygo Co, MI with some questionable ages and birthdates as follows:
Susanna, born Aug 1858, Indiana
Leeander, April 1875, Michigan
Julia, June 1886
Grace, November 1889
Effie, March 1891
Huldah, April 1895
Walter, August 1898
Dowie, August 1899
Clifford, August 1899
Susanna says she had 11 children, with 10 living. Bert would be one of the other two, but I don't know whether Cora B would be the other living child or the one who had died.
Perhaps someone else will recognize one of the children and be able to help you with finding the next generation.
