Joseph Karl Menke b.1834, Oldenburg, Ger is my wife's ancestor who emmigrated 1850-60, married Barbara Dorn, 1865 in IL. I find an Oldenburg , Ger near Holland and another in NE Ger. near Lubec. These people were settlers in a German/Catholic community in Jasper Co. IL. Most of the settlers identified their origin as Hesse Darmstadt, which I think is near Frankfort. Can someone provide guidance as to which Oldenburg JKM most likely originated?
