Johann Friedrich Menger came to America about 1855 following his three oldest sons, Otto, Christian & Hermann, who came about 1850. J. Friedrich came with second wife and 5 more children. In 1857 the family went to KS and settled near Lawrence. J. Fred was born in Egelsdorf,and lived in Wildenspring, both in Thuringen Wald. 1st. wife was a Wilhelmine Elis. Schramm. 2nd. wife was Sophie Madg. Arnold of Barigau. J. Fred's father was J. Balthasar *1774, g-f. J. Georg *1746, gg-f. J. Balthasar *1725,ggg-f. Hans Nicolay who m. 1717 to Anna Barbara Krausin(i
Once while in San A. I spoke to some of the Mengers and we could not establish a connection, but there are still some in our family who belive there is one. The towns involved are near Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. If any of this sound familiar, let me know.
