Hello Jane
I read your post with interest. I've just started researching my family, but it seems that one of my ancestors was Deborah Mendoza who was born in Amsterdam in 1807. She married Israel Proops Cohen and moved to London. They had many children and as a result lots of London Proops families are descended from them, including my Grandmother's family. It seems that the Proopses are ashkenazi. Can you tell me anything about Deborah Mendoza?
