During the forties, I remember riding on the double-decker buses in downtown Chicago with my mother. What a great way to see the city and lakefront, except when it rained unexpectedly. The next time I rode a double-decker was in London during a trip in the fifties.

I remember riding streetcars to high school in the fifties.
Soon after graduation, buses replaced the old streetcars.
