I saw the giant Redwood trees and tide pools when I visited California (San Francisco) in the 80s. I love California!

During the war, we were forced to be conservative by saving everything for recycling or for the war. We did not have the fun activities you mentioned because we were focused on one big event. Things relaxed when I entered high school.
