Hey Marilyn,
I was in school in the '60's and I remember lots of things such as playing Chinese jump rope, 3 fly's up and marbles. I was the unofficial marble champ at Nadine B McCoy elementary. We also had a costume parade at Halloween and Real McCoy day where everyone came to school dressed as hillbillies. I won an award two years in a row for best costume at Real McCoy day. They also had relay races that day. I also remember the first Earth Day in 1970 when our whole district gave kids beige drawstring bags to decorate and use as a lunch bag so we would'nt have to waste paper bags. I also won an award for the best decorated bag in my class. My teacher was active in the Sierra club in our part of Northern California and every year we took a class trip to the Redwoods or to tide pools at the ocean. My old school is now apartments but I'll always remember fondly the days I spent at Nadine B McCoy elementary school.
Dana
