Hello out there!
I am a child of the 60's and I remember board games such as mousetrap, chutes and ladders and my family's favorite Pacheesi. At school we played jump rope, hop scotch, Chinese jump rope, jacks and marbles (I was the marble champ at Nadine B McCoy elementary in the 6th grade, 1970).
I did have a Barbie doll that I got the first year they came out with the bendable arms and legs. I wasn't really into Barbie and my mom didn't think it was appropriate for a little girl to have one so it must have come from some one else. She sat on the hifi next to a candle and her hair caught fire.
I mostly enjoyed riding my bike, roller skating, playing hide and go seek and making up games based on my favorite TV shows.
A metal lunch box was a big part of grade school. I had the Roadrunner and Coyote and the Peanuts gang.
Also played with the precurser to the Rubik's cube, four different colored blocks known as Instant Insanity.
I also spent a lot of time reading and still do. I enjoyed the Little Golden Books, Dr. Suess, Black Beauty, Ann Can Fly, Green Eyes and the Bobsey Twins in the country.
Dana
