Hey Shug,
The favorite greeting used by my kinfolks in lower Alabama.
How I miss those simple sweet sounds of Mama's Southern accent. Hugs and the best buttermilk pound cake ever baked. Carried to many covered-dish socials & family reunions. Whole pound cakes given to folks all over her small hometown. Give me a glass of her Ice tea.I would give up the second Tuesday of next week to touch the wet drops of water. Forming on her jelly jar glasses as the fresh steeped tea poured over big chunks of ice slowly filling the glass. Removed from the dish pan filled with water, placed carefully in the chest-type freezer.A red and white wooden handle ice-pick used to crack the ice. We often had a wedge of Florida lemon stuck between chunks of ice. Since Mothers Day 2005, Mama greets her Earthly family. Her sweet Southern accent saying, "Hey shug, come-in,wash-up supper is done."
