I am a northerner so I cannot pretend to understand the southern perspective.

I am currently reading "The Hemmings' of Monticello." It is not an 'easy read' but it has been very enlightening for me.

If you send me your 'snail mail' address I will send it to you when I am finished. It will not answer your question but will open many more questions.
