Dear Sheri,

What did I learn in Gym Class

1)       You were blessed if you got Gym last period.
2)       Some Gym teachers are weird – looking at us in the showers.
3)       I actually enjoyed some of the activities.
4)       Some Gym teachers were mean.

Since I played tennis all the time I really didn’t need Gym in 10th grade. I played with the Tennis Team at my high school. It didn’t even occur to me that I was excluded as a female. In 11th and 12th grade I used the free period for more math and science courses.

We had little TV, no computers or video games and telephone calls were limited. I walked a lot. I also walked to school for 11 of my 12 years. I never even thought about exercising until I was in my 20s – when I started aerobics. LIFE made me exercise.
