According to my research, Robert Sweat and Margaret Cornish are some of my ancestors. I recently had my autosomal DNA tested and about 8% of it is considered "Middle Eastern," which according to the company doing the testing includes the area traditionally thought of as "North Africa," Sudan, Saudi Arabia, the Levant, Iran and the Caucasus. Sub-Saharan Africa never figures in the equation.
I realize autosomal DNA has its limitations, but it would seem to me that this argues against an Angolan origin and in favor of something in South or Southwest Asia.
I would appreciate any other comments or opinions on this.
