I've seen transcriptions on line of one of the petitions but the actual record is not online. There are a few petitions in granville in these books. One in 1764 and the other 1771.
They charged a lot of my ancestors and or cousin lines in court for having children out of wedlock. They dragged you to court if they had evidence you were committing fornication out of wedlock. Just for example go on the combs web for Surry NC and find john Parker being charged with fornication on a Combs. These are my cousins LOL
