Yes - I have read about them too. I just saw something on-line about Teeter being from Dieter. Personally I don't know what they were. I do know however that I have Reynolds and Neale people in my genealogy that were mulatto and may have had link to the Reynolds and Neale Teeter group in North Carolina.
There are also people of Huguenot origin who intermarried with this line which was already of African, East Indian, European and Native American ancestry surnamed Jarrett (originally Jarrot/Jarratte) One of my grandmother's grandfathers was a Jarrett named "Gaorg" which is Dutch or German for George. Her words were "he was French, Dutch or German or somethin'".
