Hi J - yes that is probably a good idea to contact the Lumbee tribe directly. Anyway as for the term Blackfoot I had read something by Mike Nassau a long while back saying the term was not used for the original Blackfeet tribe out west but was something used by the Souian speaking tribes to hide African ancestry.

Don't know the exact truth though.
