Maranda, wasn't the Sami/Saami people the ones we sometimes call 'Lapps'? I've researched them thinking my Daniel family may have gotten their 'white' side from the Lapp/Sami folks....and their Indian from the Cherokee.

Some of my early Daniel's had the 'look' of the Lapps. I'm going by pictures of the Lapps I found on the Internet. Also pictures of the Daniel folks made in the late 1800's.

But I did not know about the Lapp/Sami having settlements in early America. Thanks for posting the info.
