Curtis Christy,
No. You have pontificated all over the surname Goins but never specifically answered the very simple question concerning your stated speculation about the origins of the exonym "melungeon"? How can you see the Goins factor as insignificant while implying it is an integral prop for your Angolan speculations? You have claimed this one "so called" Angolan place name inspired exonym to be the glue holding an identifiable group together and yet it does not accompany your core specimens to but one location even though all other factors are found among the other similarly situated multi-ethic enclaves where "melungeon" was not commonly used? As I stated, it seems to me a bit naive to assume a unique status for those individuals referenced by the exonym "melungeon" and surnamed Goins while you dismiss with indifference similarly situated isolate communities in other locations where the Goins surname was common.
The fallacy you are seemingly attempting to ignore is the origins logic you propose for the exonym "melungeon"; not the origins of the surname Goins. The only significance I'm questionning of that particular surname rests in your usage of it to connect with the alleged clan of Angolan descendants you claim became known "melungeons".
