I went to school with a burton decendant dr harry granville burton III, you mentioned a joseph ray, I think he was from the brushy cr ray family, their founding father was james ray who came from nc in 1828, james was a cousin to my 2nd greatgrandfather john watson ray jr, john sr came the same time as john jr he died in 1842 and is buried on shelby cr, he was born in amherst co va about 1770 his father was a william ray I have no proof but william may have been the son of moses ray, or willian the son of fergus ray...there was an other joseph killed on indian cr not too far up indian cr in virginia, indian cr runs into floyd co ky, I think I remember you posting something about that it happened in 1789, that joseph was a son of elder william rhea of augusta co va and they are related to my family also, he has decendants who live in floyd co and across the river in wise co va......jim
